I am so very appreciative of the amazing feedback from family and friends on the lives that I do. I wanted to share some tips and tricks for getting over the fear of going live. Head over to HERE to see how I setup for my lives. Now I am not a business coach or a social media guru. This is purely to share what I’ve figured out and what works for me.

Tip One

Be Yourself. This sounds obvious right? Not so fast. We all struggle with wanting people to like us or watch or engage. But none of that will come if you are fake. People know this, your followers will know! So stop and just be yourself. If that’s a sarcastic, quick witted eccentric person, then be that. If you are a homebody and dislike human interaction, find a way to bring that to the table, maybe with an introverts unite live. The point is you won’t be everyone’s cup of tea so go ahead and be yourself.

Tip Two

Be Prepared. At least for the first few you do. Set aside time to get your hair and makeup done, either by you or a professional. Clean up your space. Have your project or list or whatever you are talking about ready. Now I can prepare and go live quickly, think 15 min to get setup. The first few I did, I worried about my hair and makeup and that everything was perfect. It gives you confidence to be ready! Now I am more comfortable with the steps and am often getting stuff set quickly. Things go a little less smoothly that way, but they get done.

Tip Three

Practice. You don’t even have to turn on the camera but at least talk it through in your head or out loud a few times. If you are prone to rambling have a big sign that says “breathe” behind the camera. Joke about it, admit it, people love to relate and realize you aren’t perfect either. Your lives don’t have to be an hour. They can be 1 min to 8 hours long. I like to keep mine fairly short and sweet. Occasionally I will do a longer ones for things like craft projects. You get a bit more reach than the shorter ones but I personally have a hard time finding content for over 30 minutes.

Fourth & Final Tip

Last and this is a big one, you will never fail. Literally these aren’t graded and you CANNOT fail. Going live may not be the most fun you have had. But I can tell you at least Facebook is demanding it. If you want your page seen and growing you have to be doing lives. If you totally hate it and can’t stand it or something awful happens, guess what. YOU CAN DELETE IT. So obviously the people who saw it live, will see it. But you can delete it from being shared past that.

Your Goals Need to Be Larger Than Your Fears

Now who is ready to go live? If you tell me when you are, I will do my best to show up and participate! PM on my Facebook Page or Instagram and give me a heads up! I can’t wait to see what you do & how you do it!
